Fly Fishing Tips & Tricks

Fly fishing is a fishing technique that uses a light-weight lure  combined with a weighted line to angle fish. It is an excellent sport to challenge your brain while fishing in addition to the common fishing experience. The technique involves artificial flies attached to a rod and coated line. Artificial flies mimic a fly, baitfish, or other insects. They are made by materials like hair, fur, feathers.

The idea of fly fishing is different from traditional fishing. The challenge is to trick a fish into believing his artificial fly, whipping around above the water. The distinguishing feature that sets fly fishing apart from other types of fishing is that the line is heavier than the lure, and the line must move in a way that creates the illusion of a flying insect.

Fly fishing can be done in fresh or saltwater. In freshwaters, fishermen may encounter large and smallmouth bass, landlocked and Atlantic salmon, perch, Arctic char, trout, and walleyes. In seawater, among many fly fishermen may angle for barracuda, striped bass, bluefish, mackerel, and sailfish.

There are three types of fly fishing:
